REGIONAL MEETING FOR NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY HELD AT IGNOU, SILIGURI

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 25th September, 2015: A Regional Level consultative meeting was held at IGNOU Regional Centre on 23 rd September 2015 at its Subhashpally Office of Siliguri. Dr. B. Bhowmik, Regional Director was the main coordinator of the meeting. He welcomed all members and explained the objective of the meeting. He also informed that the Ministry of Human Resources Development had initiated the process of consultations for the formulation of the National Education Policy for which 33 themes have been identified. The theme of ‘Promoting Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Courses’ have been assigned to IGNOU. He further gave a background of the ‘Consultative Meetings’ held so far. The Experts, who attended and deliberated about the topic were Dr. S.C. Das, Ex. Joint Registrar, University of North Bengal, Mr. Mrinal Ghosh, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Darjeeling, Mr. Soumen Nag, Eminent Writer and Faculty, Gyanjyoti College, Siliguri, Prof. Gopal Sarkar, Ex-Principal, Siliguri B.Ed. College, Mr. Bikash Kumar Sen Roy, Coordinator, IGNOU Study Centre (2878), Ghogomali High School, Siliguri, Mr. Dhirodutta Subba, Head, Dept. of Compute Science, Salesian College, Siliguri, Ms. Sunandita Ray, Asstt. Prof. Pragati College of Education, Siliguri, Dr. Pravin Pralayankar, Asstt. Regional Director, IGNOU Sub-Regional Centre, Darjeeling and others.
